We booked a last minute trip to Barcelona and in the days leading up I searched every website comparing the various hotels for location, price etc. Pol & Grace made it to my short list. I read the reviews. Worried about location. Worried about the bathrooms as some had mentioned but in the end I plummeted for this hotel over various others. The price was amazing. The staff words can not describe how good they are their hotel reception is less like a reception and more like a tour guides they spend ages with each guest helping them navigate the city and advising on restaurants and places of interest they were phenomenal Ceasar was the staff member on duty when we arrived at 2am however that didn't deter him, he offered us coffee and got out map of Barcelona and duly went through it as well as even going to the length of googling some things and showing us pictures on the internet. On our day of leaving he'd wrote a postcard to us wishing us a safe journey a very personal and lovely touch. When we travel we normally stay in quite luxurious hotels but there was something quirky that had struck me about this hotel and I'm glad it did. It's not a grand hotel by any means. I'd describe it as a cool, hip, art hotel with great staff and an amazing vibe. The rooms were clean, well decorated and adequate. The free coffee and communal seating area was great for planning your day and reading your map etc before heading off. I would definitely stay here again. Location is outside of the city and we didn't use the metro (which was very close) so can't comment on that. We either got taxis which were about 11 euros or we walked (which was about an hr but pretty much in a straight line and all very flat). For brunch, the hotel staff had recommended a place called picnic. Again a hip little place that was busy and we were lucky to get in. The food was lovely and all fresh.
